Leadership Scholars

(ages 12-18)

Class 2024-2025 during our Opening Event

Our Mission:

The Climb to Lead class for Scholars is all about inspiring and preparing the youth to discover their potential as a needed leader to make positive changes in the world around them. We focus on having the necessary tools and skills for them to seek a quality education that will help them discover their unique personal life mission, and to then act boldly with their words and actions to bless the world around them.

Through this shared learning group approach, we are strengthened and uplifted from the friendships we make with each other in this supportive process.

We believe in doing hard yet worthwhile things that grow us into the capable and courageous people we can become. Because of this, we are looking for motivated youth who are ready to tackle challenges, be accountable and consistent, and strive to put forth quality effort.

The main tools and skills we use in our shared learning approach for this class are:

*Powerful & quality literature which we read, discuss, and write about (about 6-8 books per semester)

*Personal & class accountability through weekly consistent commitments

*Choosing meaningful Scholar projects that practice planning, preparation, work, and time

*Courageously speaking up by preparing and presenting an inspirational speech each semester

*Memorizing and presenting recitations that we desire to write in our minds and hearts.

*Studying & sharing about great men and women in history who were inspired leaders.

*Team building experiences to expand perspective and practice leadership in fun ways

*Participate in many discussions to help us recognize true principles and how it effects our personal and collective lives.

*Serve and uplift one another, our families, and our community.

Through gathering this committed and positive community of youth, we hope to awaken the leader within each youth that can and will lead the way over the important mountains that our world faces today.

Parent(s) Monthly Discussion & Training is a NEW opportunity for those who join our classes! We will discuss leadership and classical books together to help prepare you to have meaningful discussions as a mentor with your children as well as how to grow YOU as a person and leader in your family. Group discussions are vital for our growth, espeically as we navigate this time of our lives raising our children. This is an opportunity for you to share your wisdom with other parents as well as gain insights and motivation to keep improving yourself. This is an optional opportunity, but highly encouraged. When I was a part of group like this myself, it was one of my most uplifting places to feel supported in my journey as a parent and person. I hope you'll join us! Meetings will happen once per month on a Friday night (make it a date night and bring your spouse!)

We will try to have it the 2nd Friday of the month.

Commitment for those joining: When you sign up, we anticipated that your student will participate for BOTH semesters. We understand that situations can change unexpectedly, but unless we can fill your student's spot, it is expected that you will pay and participate for both semesters.

Fall 2025 books that we will be reading, discussing, and writing about:

(Forty Autumns will be just for the scholars 14+)

Where we came from:

This class, which successfully completed our first year, is based on the principles and patterns that have been successfully implemented in Erda Leadership Academy (https://growinggreatsouls.com/) through Angela Baker (one of my personal mentors) for over 14+ years with phenomenal, life-changing results! This class is based on the principles of the Thomas Jefferson Education philosophy of education (Oliver de Mille), and your students will absolutely love and thrive in this environment as they give their best efforts and through your crucial support as a parent!

DO HARD THINGS Challenge

In the Fall of 2023, we began our Climb to Lead Scholar class for the first time. We began by studying and discussing as a class the leadership book, Do Hard THings by Alex & Brett Harris. The ideas and principles in this book are a huge part of the kind of transformative journey we hope to inspire in the youth. If you are a new student and have not had the chance to read this book yet, we offer an additional challenge before you begin with us if you are up for it.... We challenge you to READ and STUDY this powerful book! You will be glad you did! After reading and understanding the message behind this book, you will join us with more enthuastiasm as we cheer in class each week, "Do Hard Things!"

This book will be rotated in every 4 years to read and discuss as a class, but we highly recommend you read this book NOW to jump start your journey as an inspired youth!
